Denetiah lies within the guide area of Scoop Lake Outfitters and the Muskwa Kechika Protected area (MK). The MK is 15.8 million acres of protected wilderness, Scoop Lake outfitters guide area is 2.5 million acres.

Few places on earth match the significance of the Muskwa-Kechika Management Area (M-KMA) in terms of raw beauty, isolation, biodiversity, wildlife, wilderness, natural resources and spiritual and cultural value.

Within the MK there were parks created that would add to the security of maintaining this rich biodiversity of wilderness into perpetuity. Denetiah is one of those parks.

Scoop Lake outfitters had land tenure on Denetiah Lake prior to the creation of the MK and Park. The area is rich in wildlife and unprecedented natural wilderness. Many species of wildlife can be viewed from the lake. The lake itself and connecting lakes (4) comprise over 10 miles of rainbow trout habitat. We guarantee you will not experience better rainbow fishing anywhere. From spin casting off the sandy shores to fly fishing the streams, we have had clients catch 100 trout after dinner in the evening.

The Muskwa-Kechika (musk-quah-ke-chee-kah) Management Area is an innovative management system, named for two major rivers that flow through the area, that was developed through a public planning process. The names of the Muskwa and Kechika rivers are of First Nations origin.

Denetiah Lake is one of the best fishing destinations we’ve experienced in our lifetime, as well as fly-fishing the nearby tributaries.
The surroundings are absolutely stunning and the accommodations truly complement the natural beauty. Getting there is also a fabulous adventure with scenery that will stay in your mind forever. The Cary family and Scoop Lake crew are wonderful hosts. We highly recommend a visit.
